The Smart Bottom Board has been designed to operate from a wide range of power supplies. The current configuration ships with a 120 VAC Power Over Ethernet (POE) adapter.
Consistent with the design goal of an educational project:
There are no hazardous voltages inside the platform scale or enclosure.
The 120 VAC POE adapter uses 48 volt DC wall power supply. An injector and splitter are used to send the power over extra pairs in the Ethernet cable. Range is up to 100 meters.
