Overview - The HawaUbee Hivetool System is totally off the grid; it is powered by two 185W; 5.17AMP solar panels which charge Three 35AMP hour batteries and is wired with an inline fuse incase anything goes haywireEach scale is run by separate raspberry Pi computer systems contained in individual Pellican water-tight storage boxesThe entire system is enclosed in a small outdoor storage shed which is anchored to the ground to prevent tipping.  The scales under HawaUbee and HawaUbee02 are constructed out of stainless steel "L" angle. Wires from the load cells are run into a watertight junction box and then are run through a protective conduit and connect to the Pi computer systems.  Both Pi systems have wireless USB dongles that connect to an AT&T velocity hotspotBelow are pictures of some milestones for both HawaUbee and HawaUbee02 HiveTool Scales <br>

OVERVIEW

The Ultimate Bottom Board/Aluminum Hybrid Frame was created to offer an affordable frame solution that a person with access to some typical shop tools could utilize and duplicate. The Ultimate Bottom Board is a plastic bottom board manufactured by Anel it can be purchased directly from them payable in Euros or also from Brushy Mountain Bee Farm in the United States; this bottom board is compatible with 10 frame Langstroth Hives. Holes were carefully placed in the Ultimate Bottom Board to accommodate an aluminum undercarriage which provides a secure base for load cell installation.

PRODUCTION

Production of this frame started out by removal of the black plastic feet inserts that act as small leg extensions located at each corner of the bottom board. Using a drill press a hole was drilled in the center of each of the four leg housings. This will allow for a bolt to be inserted through the bottom board to attach to an aluminum undercarriage. The supports consist of two pieces of 2"x2" aluminum angle, that will run the length of the two long sides of the bottom board. A hole was drilled in the angle to accept the bolt that will secure the bottom board to the aluminum angle.

PARTS LIST

Due to the complexity and specialized techniques utilized in the creation of this scale a parts list is not available for this design.

PROS/CONS/AVAILABILITY

The vacuum formed plastic scale is currently undergoing testing for weather durability and accuracy as it is light weight and seemingly sturdy. Initially the vacuum formed scale was an option for mass production however, due to the size of the scale shipping costs may negate any cost cutting use of plastic over other light weight options with a smaller footprint.
